The Fiber Project

01 December 2014 - 31 December 2016

The Fiber Project was launched by Green Initiatives in Shanghai in December 2014 with the support of socially responsible corporate citizens, to help reduce the environmental problems caused by textile waste by saving them from landfills and incinerators through proper recycling and upcycling.

Green Initiatives teamed up with I:CO as part of the Closed-Loop Alliance. A Swiss-based clothing recycler, I:CO is involved in numerous clothing recycling projects around the world and the Fiber Project is their first collaboration in China. I:CO has up to 400 defined criteria for sorting the clothes before allocating them for various uses. The goal is to create a closed-loop where nothing is wasted and everything is either reused or recycled.
