Green Drinks Forum: Climate Fintech with Andrew Chang

Green Drinks's post-CNY forum, organized by Green Initiatives, will feature Andrew Chang, Program Director at New Energy Nexus, who will talk about digital financial technology (known today as Fintech) which has already disrupted the global financial system, but can it be used directly to improve our planet’s well-being?

Recent improvements to banking, customer experiences, and investment decision-making do not always consider the health of our planet. So how can Fintech be channeled and applied to address climate change?

About the Speaker

Andrew is a clean energy marketer, project implementer and program designer. He helped launch the Free Electrons global utility-startup accelerator and is now facilitating innovation programs and cross-border exchanges with the Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University.

Prior to New Energy Nexus, Andrew was a Project Manager at Powerhouse, the world’s only incubator and accelerator dedicated to solar. Andrew has helped Powerhouse quickly become the nation’s leader in fostering solar innovation and entrepreneurship by hosting annual Solar Hackathons in Silicon Valley, launching Australia’s first Solar Hackathon, leading international competitions and designing the accelerator program for solar startups. Lastly, Andrew’s extensive marketing experiences comes from 3+ years at two internationally renown advertising agencies; TBWA China and Y&R Shanghai. He managed accounts with Porsche, Pepsi, Bacardi and Adidas. His most notable achievement was managing and pitching Pantone ‘The Power of Color’ creative that won Bronze at Cannes in 2014. Andrew started his career as a marketing manager at Sungevity, the Oakland based rooftop solar company.

New Energy Nexus is an international organization that supports clean energy entrepreneurs with funds, accelerators and networks. We started in California and also operate programs in China, India, Southeast Asia, and East Africa.

It's a force for the good and we'd like to help it spread to other cities.

Green Initiatives, infact, evolved from Green Drinks that started its Shanghai chapter in January 2009.
