On one hand, we have a new generation of younger and more conscious consumers, who are seeking brands that highlight values that align with their own. And on the other hand, we have a growing list of companies that are publicly endorsing sustainable strategies into core business practices. Yet there are also massive shopping festivals like 11.11 (Singles Day), Black Friday and various mega discount sales festivals more often than ever.
How can we have consumption without exhausting environmental resources as well as the pollution that production results in? Fashion has received plenty of flak globally for not doing enough, but aren't there other sectors also that are continuously guilty of fuelling consumption?
Join Green Drinks 125th monthly forum, with support from ESSCA School of Management, Shanghai, as we host guest speaker from India, Luxury Retail Consultant, Sudeep Chhabra and MSc EU-Asia Luxury Marketing Director at Essca, Sabine Ichikawa, as we discuss the importance of Sustainability in Fashion / Retail, including case studies from India and the rest of the world.
Event will feature a short presentation followed by a panel discussion as well as Q&A with the audience.

Subject: Asia’s business opportunity – a double edged sword; India’s population – a demographic dividend; consumption dipstick; the elephant in the room – Sustainability; luxury retail vs fast fashion, and the shift in India.
Background: Sudeep Chhabra is a change management consultant with over 20 years of experience across 25+ brands across hospitality, retail, fashion and luxury. Based in New Delhi, India, his expertise lies in business strategy, design, sales, marketing and organizational turnaround. His past roles include seting-up and running of the franchisee business for Emporio Armani kids-wear in India, serving as the CEO of Suneet Varma, an Indian couture fashion house, serving as Head of Marketing, including brand launch, for DLF Emporio, India's first and finest luxury mall, and serving as Director of Sales for Hotel InterContinental in New Delhi. Recently, he has been involved in curating a network of investors, entrepreneurs, executives and industry experts and connecting them with startups in the field of retail and technology.
Currently, he teaches Design & Innovation, Sustainability, Negotiation Principles, Value Management, Critical Thinking and Decision Making in various fashion and business schools. He is also a Design Thinking Facilitator and actively mentors start-ups globally in problem framing and ‘go to market’ strategy.

Her expertise lies in offering accelerator programs to fashion entrepreneurs, specifically by sharing, promoting, and offering tools and vision to discover the clarity, courage, passion, and commitment needed to optimize work and life, and the connections that matter to make one's fashion world the best it can be.

Background: Sabine is the Director of Luxury & Innovation Institute at ESSCA Ecole de Management. Her expertise lies in academic research and consulting concerning the creative, Luxury and Fashion industries. She has over 33 years experience working in design, marketing, and education, in Japan, USA, Italy, France, and China. She is on the Board of Advisors and industry expert for Master programs in Luxury, Marketing and fashion, in Shanghai and Taiwan. She frequently does executive training on Luxury Brand management, family business and transmission, creative industries and innovation, etc.
