- The Green @ W+K, Shanghai
Urban farming is being advocated and talked about by experts in all leading cities and is believed to offer a solution to the above problem. By growing what we need near where we live we decrease the transportation cost as well as the pollution caused by it. What’s more we could get the freshest produce money can buy in the season best fit for it while making our cities look greener.
Join us for our film screening at W+K where we would be screening ‘Edible City’ - a fun, fast-paced journey through the Local Good Food movement that’s taking root in the San Francisco Bay Area, across the nation and around the world. The film is in line with our forum at Kokuyo later this month where we would be talking about the possibilities of urban agriculture.
Film screening will be followed by a brief discussion led by veggie-preneur Lindsey Fine, founder of Serenity Seitan, a startup that allows customers to enjoy the food from their memories without having to eat meat.
There will be a donation of 50RMB that includes beer, soft drinks, snacks and donations to the NPO Greenlife Project - an organizations that is planting trees in different parts of China to reduce desertification and help offset China’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Introducing a diverse cast of extraordinary and eccentric characters who are challenging the paradigm of our broken food system, Edible City digs into their unique perspectives and transformative work, finding hopeful solutions to monumental problems.
Inspirational, down-to-earth and a little bit quirky, Edible City captures the spirit of a movement that’s making real change and doing something truly revolutionary: growing the model for a healthy, sustainable local food system.
