Green Initiatives 108th documentary screening in Shanghai is a film that discusses the history and present-day reality of big-business tax avoidance, which has seen multinationals depriving governments of trillions of dollars in tax revenues by harboring profits in offshore havens.
The Price We Pay, directed by Harold Crooks, exposes how "offshore" finance and other tech giants of the "cloud" economy like Google, Amazon are eroding the foundations of the democratic state.
The film is inspired by Brigitte Alepin's book La Crise fiscale qui vient. Film screening will be followed by a short discussion.
