A Global Movement of Earth Awareness: Earth Hour 2019

Published on by Green Initiatives

It is an undeniable fact that we are connected to Earth and Nature. Nature has provided us with a variety of resources; such as the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and pretty much everything in life. Yet it is under the threat of the climate change we have created.

Nature has provided $125 trillion worth of services each year. We have thrived and developed in ways that involves using up the limited resources we have and creating polluting and ever-lasting landfills. The way we power and organize our society and economy has exhausted nature in a variety of aspects.

In other words, we used up a big chunk of nature’s resources and is polluting what is left. It is about time we recognize our mistake and take the step towards making nature, our planet, healthy once more. Not just for the planet, but also for our own sake because when nature thrives, so do we.

It may be easy to forget that we depend on nature for pretty much everything in our daily lives. Therefore, on March 30th, 2019 gather together to celebrate and recognize Earth Hour at 8:30 – 9:30 pm.

What is Earth Hour?

Earth hour is a time, joined by millions around the world, to speak up for why nature matters and raise awareness of the interconnectivity between climate change, healthy nature, and humans. As a global effort, everyone will switch off at 8:30 pm to celebrate Earth Hour.

How can you help?

  1. Spread the word. Share and raise awareness of Earth hour to help others recognize this issue.
  2. Create your own campaign or event within your community!
  3. Dedicate this hour into giving back something for nature’s hard work:
    1. Turn of your lights, save energy!
    2. Plant a tree, save our environment!
    3. Take shorter showers, save water!
