Innovating Solutions for Sustainability:
The Hackathon will bring together talented students, professionals, developers, designers and entrepreneurs to develop solutions to the key energy, environment, and transport challenges facing China. The competition is a business case competition and does not require proprietary code or technology development but does not preclude it. Solutions developed during the Hackathon can help to promote new business models, strategies, or technologies towards improving sustainability. The Sponsors have defined challenges around the Hackathon’s Thee Pillars of Sustainability.
Registration | Application Requirements
Applicants must select the Pillar they wish to participate in upon application. Participants may apply as a team or as individuals. Teams are capped at 5 people. Maximum 6 teams will be accepted for each challenge. Registration will be capped at 90 participants. Participants of this Hackathon must be 18 years or older. Participation in the Hackathon is open to all who qualify in age, and approval of the application is based on first come, first serve basis. The application fee is 100 RMB per participant and goes to cover the expenses of the event, including food, beverage, and other resources consumed by participants. Application fees are not refundable.

Each pillar will have a 1st Place Winner and a Runner-up. 1st Place winners receive 6,000 RMB, among other perks. Runner-up wins 1,000 RMB and other perks.

About the Organizers
Founded in 2008, The Beijing Energy Network (BEN) is a professional network with a mission of promoting knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration in understanding and tackling China’s energy and environmental challenges. The flagship activity of BEN is the Beijing Energy & Environmental Roundtable (BEER), an approximately twice-monthly happy hour/speaker series. BEER events are usually free or low cost and open to all.
New Energy Nexus is a global network of clean energy incubators and accelerators. We facilitate collaboration and innovation between startups, accelerators, and industry around the world. Currently, New Energy Nexus connects 88 incubators and accelerators from 29 different countries around the world. New Energy Nexus is founded and managed by the California Clean Energy Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting clean energy startups headquartered in Oakland California. New Energy Nexus has additional offices in Shanghai and Singapore.
